First of all, HaPPy New Year to me! heehee. Last night, when I posted a status update on Facebook saying it's exactly 12:00 on my watch, the wifi was also turned off. I'm paying unlimited here but the landlady turns off the internet every night. So I decided to sleep. Watch a movie then sleep. That's what I like about watching a movie lying down, i fall asleep in 5 minutes. And then I woke up around 10 am then made myself soup for breakfast. Watched the ball dropped in New York Times Square in while having lunch of chips and salsa. Happy new year to me indeed! Haha! I went to zee boyfriend's house around 4 in the afternoon and ate the salad I bought the other night. We watched a marathon of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (is that what you call it?). I don't normally like watching it because I think it's just like suntukan in the kanto hahaha. But then I had fun watching the marathon this afternoon. Maybe because it was like the big brother house where you see how these people deal with each other and towards others as well. One guy is I think a Christian. He was really nice and from what I understood, he prepares food every time he goes out then gives it to beggars. He lost though.

Anyway, this sure sounds like my diary. Hmmm.. I took photos today, lame photos I tell you. But I'm still posting them. No one can stop me! LOL. Here are the first photos I took for the year 2012:

it's gloomy where I live

"her mind was as changeable as the weather"
sample sentence using the word changeable of my Grade 5 english teacher

flowers because they're the easiest to take photos of hehe

and plants :D

went to McD's for a late snack with zee boyfriend :)

One of the things I like doing online is procrastinating blog-hopping. I came accross a blog that inspired me to document mundane activities of my life more. It also gave me ideas what kind of blog I want this to become.

So for starters, I tried tweaking my layout, which is something I am not very fond of. Like I said, I'm sort of techie but not with web pages. I googled for free backgrounds and found one that is not very magulo. And then I googled the right keywords, free lj layouts! Ta da! I like things simple, ya know? But you also know that women are fickle-minded, so this might change in the next months or weeks or maybe tomorrow. We'll see. Also, one word I've seen overused on LJ is "digress".

I turned 28 last October 12 and I realized I am old. or getting old. I started thinking of accomplishments. To my dismay, I could not really think of a lot. Life happened so fast it felt like I did nothing. One of the things I have always wanted to do is maintain a blog about everything. I never wanted to be a famous blogger, I just wanted something to look back to. It might sound very shallow but I wanted to keep memories. It's why I also love taking photographs. And like I have always always said, I get lazy. Tons of photos sleep for years on my hard disk. A lot of them never go online or got printed. Tons of ideas to blog about just slip away because I never really pushed myself to write.

But things have to change. I should not delay on everything like I've always did. I'm feeling quite positive about this especially now that I have so many ideas and adventures I want to plunge into. But I will take it one step at a time. This entry for one, is a start. :)

At home (which means boarding house)
Today’s not a holiday but I found myself waking up late, eating breakfast at 11 in the morning (oh, that’s brunch, right?), spending too much time in front of the computer, taking a shower at 2 in the afternoon, washing 3 days worth of dishes (mostly just glasses because I don’t eat, chos), finally soaking up laundry, cleaning my toe nails and painting them blue. It’s 3:59 PM, and I still feel sluggish. It’s like I had just got out of bed. I’m not really feeling so good when I woke up this morning, that’s why I skipped work. I was thinking earlier today that it’s already Wednesday and I haven’t accomplished anything. And then I realized I had this prenuptial shoot with friends the whole day yesterday. That’s why I was not feeling well this morning. Because we got rained on and then it was hot and then raining again. But it was fun! Before I got home yesterday I was really excited to sort the photos and then upload them on Facebook. But when I got here, I felt soo tired and sad. Apparently, all my housemates went to their homes and I was left alone. I was also scared that I had to update my Facebook status to this “loud videoke from neighbors are (eeep!) not annoying when you’re home alone on all saints’ day. Kaya go lang! Mingaw”. I was hoping someone would comment then I would feel better. Realizing the wrong grammar made me feel better first hahaha and then my friends’ comments. At least I had some people talking to err exchanging comments with. A post this far usually makes me lose my line of thought, yup, there it’s gone.
I fell asleep again and just woke up. So I’m posting this as an “update”. I need to find something to eat :-S

I feel so tired but productive today. Although one of my roommies and I woke up almost lunch time, we were able to clean up our room as in total clean-up! Feels good not to be in front of the computer for hours just watching movies or tv series. We downloaded and copied a lot for the weekend tho hehe.

Last Saturday, October 1, I was able to join Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photowalk in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. It was my first time joining a photowalk so I was nervous. I also didn't know anyone in the group. I almost backed out but I really wanted to experience it so yup, I stayed. It's been a week but I haven't uploaded the photos yet. I'm still choosing because I think most of my photos are lame. I haven't been taking pictures for months now, I mean seriously taking pictures not just because there's a party or an event in the office or with friends. I wasn't inspired to take pictures. Even when I went home to Palawan, I told myself not to be busy taking pictures but to enjoy the little time I had with my friends. I didn't wanna miss out on anything just because I was taking pictures all the time. So when I heard of the photowalk, I asked 2 friends to join but they already had plans. The introvert in me said I should wait for another chance, but the (kinda) extrovert side won hehe pakapalan na lang!

Anyway, I wanted to make this longer but I'm only uploading 1 photo for now. Next entry hopefully.

I'm finishing my work at Brewpoint Restobar in Tagbilaran. Apparently, Globelines have some problems with their winternetz all over Bohol. I ordered chili dog and coffee float because I've tried their chili dog before and I liked it. Coffee float because I did not want to think about what to drink really. I'm here for the wifi, which is not free at all. I'm done with my work and now eating the saddest chili dog I've had in my life. Hindi masarap pramis. Here's a photo (a proof that I spent my own money just to finish work) I took with my phone

This is a note to myself not to eat chilidog at Brewpoint again. k.

Didn't make it till the eclipse. I was so sleepy last night. Here's one photo of the moon I took around 11pm.

Cropped only.

The answer to my problems is so simple. Photoscape. I've read about it before but never bothered to download it coz I thought it's the same with other softwares. I just downloaded it yesterday and I'm still learning how to use it. I found Combine and Page features very useful. Have I found this earlier, I wouldn't have had to sleep late editing in LR and Fireworks. Deym! And it's free!

Post Processing is my least favorite when it comes to photography because I don't know how to post-process hehe. I admire photographers who post pictures on the web directly from their cameras. Like the term that they use, SOOC or Straight Out Of Camera. (correct me if i'm wrong, im not in the mood to google). I believe it's a talent to "enhance" a photo through Photoshop (a talent i don't acquire) but it's just amazing how there are real photographers out there. Okay, I don't wanna go through all this, I just want to say I'm not a fan of those who rely on Photoshop to make "great" photos.

So here was my problem, post processing. I usually use Picassa to make slight changes to the pictures I take. Like cropping and removing that white cast. I actually like that "I'm feeling Lucky" button. And sometimes I use Macromedia Fireworks for its Stamp tool. I have tried one version of Adobe Photoshop but I think it's just not for me. I don't have the patience to learn how to use it. And then I found Lightroom. And the many presets it has (even for JPEGS!). I think Photoshop has those too but I don't know what they're called.

I did a favor to a couple of friends who are actually a couple hehe. They are getting married on the 25th and we had a pre-nuptial shoot somewhere near their house. Like I have always said, I am not a photographer. I like taking pictures, that's all. And I love learning how to take better pictures. I took so many photos I didn't know which ones to upload. So I decided to combine 2-3 photos. And so my dilemma began. I did not know to resize the photos for uploading on Facebook. And make the sizes printable as well. I just did what I could, that turned out to be small sizes. I don't know what they will look like on print but at least I have uploaded them on Facebook. I'm gonna have to learn resizing coz they plan to print some of the pictures. Here is a sample and one of my favorites. I used a preset in Lightroom, then combined the 3 pictures in Macromedia Fireworks:

The space is not even balanced! Gah! I need a tutor! stat!

I will make another post of the photos that turned out fine. I got some learnings, too!

So i played with themes again until I got tired and chose this very simple one. I may be a little techie but I have no patience in tinkering with web pages. So this will stay like this for now.

i have never taken a picture of a rainbow so i don't know if there's a "camera setting" for it. i took these the other day while going up to the office. i can't remember the last time i've seen a rainbow and this one didn't last that long.
